So, this is my second round of breastfeeding.
I’ve been ’round the block. I know this breastfeeding gig can be, and usually is, tough.
This is my list of must-haves/essentials, that made my breastfeeding journey just a little easier. And hopefully might make yours easier as well.
{Please note: This is my opinion and this post is not sponsored by any of the brands mentioned.}
// Comfortable Nursing Bra
I love Woolworth’s nursing bras. It has a wider strap and is even comfortable enough to sleep with.
// Feeding Camis
This is honestly the best buy for a nursing mom. It’s great for sleeping in. It’s great for wearing under clothes. It gives good enough support and it covers your tummy. H&M’s nursing camis are my favorite, but Cherry Melon has awesome ones as well.
// Soft Breast Pads
I have tried all the breast pads on the market. Twice.
My favorite, by far, is Pigeon Breast Pads. They are soft, and they do not leak. And I have an over-supply, so leaking pads tend to happen often. But not these breast pads. They shape nicely and stick well to your bra/clothing.
// Feeding Pillow
There are a variety of pillows on the market. I preferred the Snuggle Time Feeding Pillow. I also used my pregnancy body pillow as support for my back.
// Lanolin Nipple Cream
This nipple cream from Medela, is a miracle cream. It heals and softens and helps so much with cracked nipples, in the early days. It’s also a great bum cream, if baba has a bad nappy rash.
// Burp Cloths/Toweling Nappies
Any burp cloth that works for you is great, but I found good ol’ toweling nappies worked the best. Babies spit up. A LOT.
Especially newborns, between feeds. You fold the nappy doubled. It is wide enough to cover your whole shoulder, most of your clothes and there’s enough left to wipe baby, if need be.
// Easy-to-use Feeding App
If you are a take-it-as-it comes type of person. Then this will not be for you. I am most happy, where there’s routine. I like knowing details of everything and it makes me a little too happy if, let’s say an app, can analyse things for you. I like to know when my baby has fed and for how long. I also log most other things, such as naps, nappies, weight etc. The Babyconnect App is perfect and easy-to-use.
// Breast Pump
I will never stop praising the Medela Swing Maxi. It has saved my sanity with both of my feeding journeys. I have a huge over-supply, and this has made this amazing ‘burden’ a little easier to bear.
That being said, I also love my handpump. It goes anywhere, doesn’t take up a lot of space and gets the job done when the electric is too much of an effort.
// Milk Storage Bags
As mentioned above… the over-supply… there’s loads of extra milk. It needs to be stored to be frozen. Medela’s bags are great!
// Coconut Oil
This is an all-rounder. Great nipple cream, antibacterial properties and a great bum cream as well. Found at any Dischem or Clicks
// Nursing Cover
If baby is hungry, you nurse. This cover, from Petit Bunny is just perfect. It’s great to cover the carseat/pram and also perfect for feeding baby hassle-free.
// Nursing Tea & WATER
Fluid intake is super important for maintaining a good milk supply. Carmien Nursing Tea is yummy and has Fenugreek in, with other ingredients especially formulated to stimulate and increase lactation.
BUT NOTHING BEATS DRINKING LOADS AND LOADS OF WATER. So I always keep pop-up bottles of water handy, to take a sip throughout the day.

So these are my favorite breastfeeding goodies.
Hope some of them can help you!
